This volume brings together multiple texts and debates on the meaning of the transition to socialism, from planning and ownership to the role of party, workers, peasants, and the problem of development. Its importance lies in its argumentative character: socialism is not presented here as a single ready-made formula, but as a stage full of questions, tensions, and theoretical conflict. Through its Arabic translation, Fawwaz Traboulsi opened to readers a debate that was central to socialist thought in the second half of the twentieth century.
