The Fertile Eyes is a compact Arabic gateway into John Berger's way of thinking. Fawwaz Traboulsi gathers selected Berger texts, most previously assembled in a special Bidayat dossier. The contents span writing and translation, Cézanne, Van Gogh, photography, advertising, Chaplin, song, Palestine, Che Guevara, Mayakovsky, demonstrations, place, and Marxism. In only 151 pages, the book offers a sharply curated entry point into Berger's aesthetics and ethics, mediated through Traboulsi's translation and Arab intellectual framing.
